Generator Controllers
Larger, engine driven, generator sets (gensets) need controllers to operate and to monitor them. Any size genset that is to be used where there is no power, and has the need to operate unattended and turn itself on and off automatically based on the need for power, also needs a controller. We have found that The Self Starter™ II Generator Controller handles all of these duties efficiently and effectively. It has a user-friendly interface, and features/capabilities that are not found on any other controller on the market today.
The Self Starter™ II Generator Controller is a highly advanced software, printed circuit board controller for the operation of larger engine driven generator sets, and especially for the unattended or remote starting and stopping of engine driven generator sets of any size.
Some of the features include:
- Use with Single or Three Phase units
- Multiple, time-constrained cranking with a cool down period between start attempts
- Optional no-load starting of the generator. A time delayed transfer of power to the loads allows the engine to warm-up and ensures proper output voltage from the generator (power is not transferred if voltage falls outside of acceptable range)
- Constant voltage & current monitoring of generator during operation with immediate shut-down for high voltage and a delayed shut down for low voltage to allow for motor-start loads;
- Monitoring of generator frequency and engine RPM
- Built-in circuit for interface with oil pressure and water temperature switches
- Shut down of generator if a problem is detected. The controller will (attempt a) restart and check to see if the problem persists: if not, the generator will be allowed to run – if the problem persists, the unit will shut down and display a fault (reason) code
- Simple two-wire start connection can be used with one switching device or multiple switches in series or parallel
- Load specific current monitoring is available – useful, for example, when running a remote well pump to shut the unit down for a pre-selected time interval if the well flow rate falls too low
- Hour meter functions for both the engine and generator
- Panel mounted digital display
- Programmable maintenance intervals – will display a maintenance reminder when maintenance is due
- Available stand alone or mounted in rain/dust proof enclosure with wiring harness ready to attach to generator/engine
