Wind
Wind power is all about utilizing one of Mother Nature’s powerful forces to benefit us. In the early history of wind, we used the wind to move ships across oceans or pump water out of the ground out on the open prairie.
Today, one of our major benefits is realized through the conversion of the wind energy into electrical power through the use of wind turbines. This is a process that scales from very small for an individual’s needs, to very large “wind farms” that produce massive amounts of energy that is pumped into the electrical grid as a clean/renewable power source.
Wind turbines need to be installed above surrounding objects so that they can collect the better “clean air” that is mostly free from turbulence which can greatly effect the performance of the turbine, and are therefore typically seen on tall poles, or towers.
